Windsor is located 25 miles from the centre of London. The city is famous for two things: 1) the famous boarding school Eton and 2) Windsor Castle, medieval castle and royal residence. Windsor Castle is the biggest private and continuously occupied castle in the world. Trains from central London (Waterloo) to Windsor run frequently and tickets can be bought at the train station. Once in Windsor the train station is less then ten minutes walk from the main entrance of the castle. A trip to Windsor is not only a nice city break but also allows to dig deeper into the British heritage.
Die Stadt Windsor befindet sich 25 Meilen vom Zentrum Londons entfernt. Die Stadt ist vor allem für zwei Dinge bekannt: 1) Die bekannt Privatschule Eton und 2) Schloss Windsor, ein mittelalterliches Schloss und einer der Hautwohnsitze der Queen. Schloss Windsor ist das größte private und durchgängig bewohnte Schloss der Welt. Windsor ist gut an London angeschlossen und Züge fahren regelmäßig von Waterloo. Tickets können direkt am Bahnhof gekauft werden. Der Bahnhof in Windsor befindet sich keine zehn Gehminuten vom Haupteingang des Schlosses. Ein Ausflug nach Windsor ist nicht nur eine nette Abwechslung zum hektischen Leben in London sondern auch eine wunderbare Gelegenheit mehr über die Geschichte Englands zu erfahren.
